Commitment to artisans & sustainability

Preserving tradition. Supporting people. Protecting the craft.

Authentic Rugs, Ethically Made

At Les Nomades de Marrakech, every rug begins with a person — not a machine. Our rugs are handcrafted by Moroccan artisans, many of whom belong to independent weaving cooperatives across the High Atlas and southern regions. We build direct, long-term relationships with these communities, ensuring that every piece is made with care, dignity, and purpose.

Honoring the Artisans Behind the Craft

We work closely with Amazigh women and tribal weavers, preserving techniques passed down for generations. Their hands carry not only skill but cultural memory, and their stories are embedded in every knot, pattern, and thread. As curators, we don’t interfere with their artistic voice — we simply help amplify it.

Craftsmanship Elevated by Quality

While many of our rugs are made using locally sourced wool, handspun and naturally dyed using age-old methods, we also work with carefully selected imported materials in some of our premium collections. These are chosen to enhance texture, durability, and feel, while staying true to the spirit of Amazigh design.

By introducing these high-quality materials into the hands of Moroccan artisans, we create a new space for elevated craftsmanship — one that blends traditional expertise with refined international standards, allowing our weavers to work at a new level of creative and technical excellence.

Sustainability with Integrity

We embrace a slow production philosophy, rooted in intentional sourcing, limited quantities, and long-lasting design. Whether crafted from local wool or specialty fibers, every rug is made with an emphasis on durability, low waste, and respect for people and materials. Our model supports a more thoughtful, sustainable alternative to mass-produced décor.

Fair Trade Principles, Real Impact

We are proud to follow fair trade practices, offering transparent pricing and direct support to the artisans we work with. This means:

  • Fair wages and consistent work

  • Respect for seasonal rhythms and creative freedom

  • Reinforcement of rural economies and traditional livelihoods

In doing so, we ensure that each rug carries not just beauty, but positive impact — both social and environmental.

Protecting the Future of the Craft

Our commitment to sustainability is also cultural. In a world where fast fashion and imitation threaten artisan livelihoods, we champion authenticity — creating real opportunities for Moroccan weavers to thrive and evolve. Whether it's preserving ancient motifs or offering new materials to work with, we are building bridges between past and future, local and global.
