“We have carpets running in our blood.” – Abderrahim Namous
Five Generations of Craftsmanship
The story of Les Nomades de Marrakech begins over a century ago, with our great-great-great-grandfather — a gifted artisan who handcrafted traditional Moroccan blankets using ancestral techniques. His work laid the foundation for a family legacy built on patience, precision, and a deep respect for Amazigh craftsmanship.
From the Medina to the Mountains
Over time, our family journeyed from textile making to trading vintage and antique rugs. Based in the heart of Marrakech’s Medina, we built close relationships with rural weavers, collectors, and nomadic artisans — carefully curating one-of-a-kind pieces that carry centuries of meaning and symbolism.
The Vision of Abderrahim Namous
Our founder, Abderrahim Namous, dedicated his life to mastering the art of rug trading and design. With unmatched knowledge and a deep love for the craft, he elevated Les Nomades de Marrakech into a respected name among artisans and collectors alike. His passion shaped our identity and deepened our roots in Morocco’s weaving traditions.
A Modern Touch, Rooted in Tradition
Today, a new chapter unfolds with Oualid Namous, Abderrahim’s son, joining the legacy. While respecting the values passed down through generations, Oualid brings a quiet evolution to the business — refining operations, contributing to design, and introducing thoughtful innovations to serve a global audience.
From Heritage to Contemporary Design
Once focused exclusively on vintage and tribal pieces, since 2011 Les Nomades de Marrakech also creates modern, custom-designed rugs — made to suit today’s interiors while honoring centuries-old techniques. We adapt traditional artistry to global formats and standards, making Moroccan beauty accessible around the world.
A Legacy Woven into Every Rug
At Les Nomades de Marrakech, every rug tells a story — of origin, of craft, of family. What began with a loom in a mountain village has become a living archive of Moroccan identity. We’re proud to share not just rugs, but the spirit of a heritage that continues to grow, evolve, and inspire.
